A Week in Kourtnee’s World, She So Happy!
7-17-97, 2:45 PM
We hung out with Martin until 2:45.
I was tired. I had kept
myself from laughing, that I had expended a lot of energy.
We walked to the cars.
I quickly got into the car. I
left the car door opened a little so I could hear what Martin and Kourtnee were
going to say. Martin asked Kourtnee
if she wanted to go out later on tonight. I
was waiting for Kourtnee’s answer. She
said that she had to go to choir rehearsal with me.
Martin then said that he would be in town until the 24th.
Kourtnee smiled and said that she would see.
I thought to myself, “Oh brother.”
Martin and Kourtnee hugged again. Good
grief, all this hugging was disgusting. Kourtnee
finally got into the car. Martin
watched us until we drove off. Kourtnee
was grinning the whole time. Kourtnee
drove down the road singing the song that was on the radio.
LaDawnya:
I thought Martin was just your friend.
Kourtnee: He
is just a friend
LaDawnya:
From all the hugging and kissing you all were doing, I couldn’t
tell if you all were friends or something else.
Kourtnee looked at me.
Kourtnee:
Martin is a very affectionate guy and we ARE JUST FRIENDS.
LaDawnya:
If you say so.
Kourtnee:
What does that mean?
LaDawnya:
Nothing
Kourtnee:
That’s not a complete sentence.
LaDawnya:
Are you going back to Shimmers?
Kourtnee:
No, we are going to Dr. Nicolas’ office.
Why were you so quiet at lunch?
LaDawnya:
I don’t know.
Kourtnee:
I see that it is useless to try to talk to you right now.
So, I’ll go back to singing.
Kourtnee went to singing the song that came on the radio.
LaDawnya:
You are flat and singing soprano.
Kourtnee:
I didn’t ask you for a critique of my singing.
LaDawnya:
Well, you ARE flat and singing soprano.
Kourtnee:
If you would talk to me, I wouldn’t be singing.
LaDawnya:
Fine. Why is your hair so
long?
Kourtnee:
What kind of question was that?
LaDawnya:
You said that I should talk to you.
You didn’t say about what.
Kourtnee:
You think you’re cute, don’t you?
LaDawnya:
No. I know I’m cute.
Kourtnee laughed.
LaDawnya:
Why are you so happy?
Kourtnee:
Is there something wrong with being happy?
LaDawnya:
Nope, I just asked a question.
Kourtnee:
Can you find something productive to talk about?
LaDawnya:
What do you think about the design of the new Arts Center in Absanie?
Kourtnee:
What are you talking about?
LaDawnya:
Something productive.
Kourtnee:
Did you just make that up?
LaDawnya:
Maybe. What do you know
about Veronica?
Kourtnee:
Why are you asking me about her?
LaDawnya:
I sat with her while I ate breakfast this morning.
Kourtnee:
Oh, she’s nice. She won
a scholarship from the foundation. She
wanted a job, so she talked to mother. Mother
asked me to give her a job. I did.
That’s pretty much it.
LaDawnya:
Oh.
Kourtnee:
Anything else?
LaDawnya:
No mame.
Kourtnee:
What do you think about Martin?
LaDawnya:
He’s skinny, he tells too many jokes, and he overdoes things.
Kourtnee:
Can you think of anything nice to say about him?
LaDawnya:
He makes you laugh and smile.
Kourtnee:
Ok. Is that all you could
come up with?
LaDawnya:
Yes, mame.
Kourtnee:
How did you like Maizon’s?
LaDawnya:
It was fine.
Kourtnee:
Umm, two and three word sentences.
You must be tired of talking, so I guess I’ll go back to singing.
With that, Kourtnee went back to singing.
Kourtnee sung the rest of the ride to Dr. Nicolas’ office.
Kourtnee was so happy. It was
good to see her happy. She was still
flat. |
