A Week in Kourtnee’s World, Working It Out

7-16-1997, 6:12 AM

I walked into the fitness center. I hadn’t been in the fitness center. It was extensive. There were all kinds of weight lifting equipment in the room. There were bicycles and treadmills up against the walls. The room that I was in was top quality. Everything at Shimmers was top quality. Mr. Adams and Kourtnee were some great presidents of the company. I thought about working at Shimmers after I graduated. It would be a great company to work for.

I looked for Kourtnee and Paula. They were on a couple of the treadmills. I walked over to them, put my stuff down on the floor, and got on the treadmill next to Kourtnee. Kourtnee stopped walking and told me that she would show me where the racquetball courts were. Paula said that she would show me where they were, but Kourtnee said that Paula didn’t have to. Kourtnee didn’t say anything to me as we walked to the racquetball courts. She signed me up for a court, and then she showed me where the court was.

When we reached the correct court, we went in. I heard someone playing on another court. Kourtnee stepped out of the court that we were in. She came back a few minutes later with a tall light skinned woman. Kourtnee introduced us. Here name was Leslie McNatt. Leslie was a racquetball coach for some amateur racquetball players in the state. Kourtnee told me that Leslie was going to work out with me and coach me, if I wanted her to. I looked at Kourtnee. I nodded my head. Kourtnee was leaving the racquetball court. I walked out of the court after her. I asked her if she was going to leave me by myself. She turned around towards me and told me that I would be ok. She didn’t even wait for a response from me. She walked off. Tears filled my eyes as I watched her walk off.

Leslie called my name. I wiped my eyes and turned around towards her. She told me to come back into the court. We began the workout. Leslie took me through some drills. I did some serving drills. I did some lobbing drills. Leslie had me running and hitting the ball for a long time. I was getting tired. The only time she said anything to me was when she chided me for doing something incorrectly. I didn’t say anything. I just corrected what she told me to correct and then continued with the drills. I tried to think about Kourtnee, but I had to concentrate on what Leslie was telling me to do. Leslie had me doing drills until Paula came to get me at 8:00 AM. Paula and I walked silently to the showers where we cleaned up and got dressed for work.
