A Week in Kourtnee’s World, This Isn’t Going Too Well

7-15-97, 11:29 AM

I thought everything was getting better, but Kourtnee had to go and say something like she did. I went to Colt’s office, which was the only place I could go without getting into trouble. I didn’t need any more drama.

Colt was sitting at his desk looking at some papers. I knocked on the door. He looked up at me. He told me to come in. I sat down on the couch. He asked if he needed to close the door. I nodded. He walked over to the door and closed it. He came back over to the couch and sat down beside me.

(Colt and LaDawnya)

Colt: I guess you and Kourtnee are still having problems.

LaDawnya: Yea, I guess so.

Colt: Did you try to talk to her?

LaDawnya: Yes. It was going fine at first.

Colt: What happened?

I laid my head back on the couch. Colt’s phone rung. Colt got up from the couch and answered it.

Colt: Colt Austin’s office. Yes, she’s here. I am not sure that she wants to talk to you right now. Ok, I’ll tell her to stay here.

Colt hung up the phone, came back over to the couch, and sat down beside me.

LaDawnya: Kourtnee’s on her way out here.

Colt: Yes. Are you gonna be all right?

LaDawnya: I guess so.

I rubbed my hair.

Colt: Why are you so quiet?

LaDawnya: I had prayed and asked God to work everything out. I thought everything was going to be okay when Kourtnee and I were talking, but Kourtnee asked me what made me think I was going to be around her that long. I don’t understand God sometimes.

Colt: What did Kourtnee say to you?

LaDawnya: Nothing. Forget I told you that.

Colt: I am not going to forget anything. What did she say to you?

LaDawnya: Colt, leave it alone. Please, just leave it alone.

Colt: If that’s what you want me to do.

LaDawnya: Yes, it is.

Colt: I’m gonna go back to work.

LaDawnya: Do you want me to wait outside for Kourtnee?

Colt: That might be best because if I see her, I might say something to her.

LaDawnya: Ok.

We both got up from the couch. I walked outside as Colt walked to his desk.

7-15-97, 11:49 AM

I was standing outside the plant leaning up against the wall. Kourtnee walked over to me. She asked me why I was outside. I told her that I wanted to wait outside. She asked me was I ready for lunch. I didn’t say anything. I started walking towards the car.

We finally reached the car. I had been thinking about what Kourtnee had said to me all the way to the car. When we reached the car, I blew up.

(Kourtnee and LaDawnya)

Kourtnee: You are going to enjoy lunch with Martin.

LaDawnya: I’m supposed to just sit at a table and act all happy with you. I don’t want go to lunch with you.

Kourtnee: You took what I asked you the wrong way. Get in the car.

LaDawnya: Tell me how I was supposed to take it.

Kourtnee: I am going to be late for lunch.

LaDawnya: So.

I worked my neck. That must have made her mad because she walked around to the passenger of the car.

Kourtnee: I had better not ever catch you rolling your neck at me like that again. Do you understand me?

LaDawnya: I won’t be around you that long, so you don’t have to worry about me doing it anymore.

I tried to walk by her. She grabbed my arm. I jerked away from her.

Kourtnee: Do not jerk away from me. You have lost your mind.

LaDawnya: It’s your fault that I lost it!

Kourtnee: Go up to my office and wait for me to get back from lunch!

LaDawnya: I ain’t going nowhere.

She walked around to the driver side of the car.

Kourtnee: You can stay out here if you want to, but you better be in my office when I get back.

She got in her car, slammed the car door, and drove off. This was not going well at all.
