A Week In Kourtnee’s World, A Volatile Phone Call

7-18-97, 6:38 PM

In Kourtnee’s Room

Colt: Hello.

Kourtnee: I think LaDawnya heard you when we were outside on the front porch.

Colt: The appropriate response would be hello.

Kourtnee: Did you just hear what I said?

Colt: Yes, I heard what you said.

Kourtnee: I am trying to tell you that LaDawnya heard what you said.

Colt: What do you want me to do?

Kourtnee: I cannot believe that you could be that mean and callous.

Colt: Look, the girl ain’t my responsibility. She’s yours.

Kourtnee: So, you don’t care that you broke that girl’s heart.

Colt: Maybe, if I would have called first, I wouldn’t have broken her heart.

Kourtnee: This has nothing to do with LaDawnya. You are just pissed off because Martin was at the house! I can’t believe that you are being this ignant!

Colt: Ignant, I didn’t know that Miss Wonderful even knew how to use improper English. I never asked to be in her life.

Kourtnee blew a breath. Colt could hear the disgust in Kourtnee’s voice. Colt didn’t really care. Kourtnee was right. He was jealous because he saw Martin at Kourtnee’s house. Martin had always been around, even when he and Kourtnee were dating. Martin was always around. Colt couldn’t get rid of that skinny imbecile. Now here he was again.

Kourtnee: I’m not gonna even try. If you don’t want LaDawnya hanging around you anymore, you don’t have to worry, she won’t. Bye!

Kourtnee angrily hung up the phone before Colt could say goodbye. The phone rung. Kourtnee knew that it was Colt.

Kourtnee: Hello.

Colt: Did you just hang up in my face?

Kourtnee: No, I didn’t. I said goodbye.

Colt: Ok, if that’s how you want to act.

Kourtnee: My child is upstairs bawling because she heard you say that you wish you would have never met her. You should be glad that all I did was hang up in your face!

Colt: I guess I have two Adams’ women mad at me.

Kourtnee: Yea, you do. I am tempted to call your mother and tell her what you did!

Colt: That’s so childish.

Kourtnee: You need to fix this and fix it quick.

Colt: What am I supposed to do?

Kourtnee: I don’t know. You just need to fix this.

Colt: Look, I gotta go.

Kourtnee: Colt, I am not playing with you! You better fix this and fix it quick!

Colt: Dang, woman. I will fix it! You can sure be mean when you want to.

Kourtnee: I just want this fixed Colt! Bye.

Colt barely got his bye out before Kourtnee hang up the phone. Colt knew that Kourtnee was right. He had to fix the mess that he had made, but he wasn’t sure of how to fix it.
