Original Entry Date: 11.29.03 A Week In Kourtnee's World, She Still didn't Answer my Question 7-19-97, 6:22 AM Kourtnee walked into the room I was in. I was staring at the ceiling.
LaDawnya: What are you doing in here?
Kourtnee: I figured it was about time that you were gonna wake-up, so I decided to come n here and check on you before you woke Monica up.
LaDawnya: Why did you think I was gonna wake up?
Kourtnee: Every time you have a night where you can't sleep, you usually wake-up every two hours.
LaDawnya: Oh.
Kourtnee laid down on the bed beside me.
LaDawnya: Did you and Colt have sex?
Kourtnee: How are you gonna just ask me a question that is none of your business?
LaDawnya: I don't know. I just wanted to know.
Kourtnee: Why did you want to know?
LaDawnya: I was just wondering.
Kourtnee: How long have you been wondering about this?
LaDawnya: When I saw Colt with his shirt off.
Kourtnee: That figures. Have you had sex yet?
LaDawnya: No, Mame.
Kourtnee: That's good.
LaDawnya: You didn't answer my question.
Kourtnee: I am not going to answer your question. It's none of your business.
LaDawnya: Ok, I'll just ask Colt.
Kourtnee: No you won't. You are mad at him, remember.
LaDawnya: Oh yea. I thought you were mad at him, too.
Kourtnee: I was.
LaDawnya: How come we came up here with him, then?
Kourtnee: Because Monica wanted me to come up here. Monica usually gets what she wants.
LaDawnya: You could have told her that I didn't want to come.
Kourtnee: She would have told me to put you on the phone and then told you that you were coming up here.
LaDawnya: Are you still mad at me?
Kourtnee: A little. You acted very silly tonight. Did you act like this with Mrs. Johnson?
LaDawnya: No Mame.
Kourtnee: Why are you acting like this with me?
LaDawnya: I was scared of Mrs. Johnson. She was always threatening to tell Jesus on a person. "Baby, Ima tell Jesus on you." You didn't want Mrs. Johnson praying on you.
Kourtnee: Well, I might start doing that.
LaDawnya: It won't work for you. I have never really heard or seen you pray.
Kourtnee: Are you trying to say that I can't pray or something.
LaDawnya: No, I'm not.
Kourtnee: I think you are.
LaDawnya: No, I'm not. You just have to find your own method with me.
Kourtnee: So, now you're a psychologist?
LaDawnya: Not really.
Kourtnee: What do I need to do to get you to stop acting silly with me?
LaDawnya: You really don't expect me to tell you?
Kourtnee: Yes, I do.
LaDawnya: I'm not gonna tell you.
Kourtnee: Can you tell me why you act silly with me, then?
LaDawnya: Because you are always trying to make me be like you.
Kourtnee: No, I don't.
I didn't say anything. I just stared at the ceiling.
Kourtnee: Are you gonna tell me what you meant by that?
I still didn't say anything.
Kourtnee: There you go acting silly. Open up your mouth and tell me what you meant by that!
LaDawnya: You're just gonna get mad at me.
Kourtnee: So, what if I do? I ask you about it, so I am expecting an answer. You can get quiet just because you think someone is going to get upset with you. What did you mean by what you said?
LaDawnya: You are always trying to make me dress like you and act like you.
Kourtnee: You mean because I will not let you wear those raggedy t-shirts and won't let you slouch around; I am trying to make you act like me?
LaDawnya: Yes, what difference does it make if I wear a raggedy t-shirt around the house?
Kourtnee: You are not gonna wear a raggedy anything around the house or anywhere else. If that makes you think that I am trying to make you be like me then you are going to have to get over that. There is not a good reason for you to wear anything raggedy.
LaDawnya: Ok.
Kourtnee: That didn't sound too convincing.
I didn't say anything.
Kourtnee: I guess I'm going to get the quiet treatment now.
I didn't say anything.
Kourtnee: Fine, we'll both just lay here and be quiet.
After about five minutes...
Kourtnee: You aren't going to say anything.
I didn't say anything.
Kourtnee: you are one stubborn little thang.
LaDawnya: Mrs. Johnson use to say that about me, too.
Kourtnee: What, you can talk!?
LaDawnya: Very funny.
Kourtnee: I know.
LaDawnya: I'm hungry. Mrs. Austin doesn't have anything good to eat.
Kourtnee: I know. Ramona gets stuff that we like to eat.
LaDawnya: Does Mrs. Jackson know if you and Colt had sex?
Kourtnee: Don't start that again. And don't ask her that.
LaDawnya: How come you won't tell me?
Kourtnee: Because it is none of your business.
LaDawnya: Alright, gees, I just asked.
Kourtnee: Well, quit asking.
LaDawnya: Ok. Can we go get something to eat?
Kourtnee: Didn't you just say that there was nothing in the refrigerator to eat?
LaDawnya: Yes, but we can go to the store.
Kourtnee: Girl, it's 6 something in the morning. I am not going to a store. Besides, Monica should be up and cooking breakfast in a few minutes.
LaDawnya: Can I go ask Colt to take me?
Kourtnee: Yea, if you want to. |
